Barisal Bulls beat Sylhet Super Stars by 1 run

Dhaka: Barisal Bulls beat Sylhet Super Stars by a single run in the 6th Twenty20 match of the franchise-based 3rd Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Tuesday.

Replying Barisal Bulls 108, Sylhet Super Stars finished at 107 for 9 in 20 overs.

Al-Amin Hossain who was adjudged man of the match made the tournament’s maiden hat-trick in this match with his five-wicket haul conceding economic 36 runs in 4 overs.

On his way to hat-trick, pacer Al-Amin Hossain bagged Ravi Bopara who was caught by Brendan Tailor while bowled out Nurul Hasan and Sylhet Super skipper Mushfiqur Rahim respectively for ducks in the 2nd, 3rd and 4th deliveries of his 2nd overs.

Conceding 10 runs in 1.4 overs, Al-Amin debacle the Barisal Bulls batting castle early as he claimed four wickets with hat-trick when scoreboard showing 18/4 in 3.4 overs for the losers.

To complete his five wicket mission, Al-Amin Hossain finally dismissed Nazmul Hossain Milon who was caught by Taijul Islam.

Sylhet Super Stars highest scorer Dilshan Munaweera was caught by Seekkuge Prasanna off Taijul Islam’s bowling, scoring 36 off 31 balls with six fours leaving team total at 62 for 6 in 12 overs.

Dilshan Munaweera and Owais Shah contributed 43 runs in 8 overs in the 5th wcicket stand to carry the team total to 61 for 5 in 11.4 overs from 18/4 in 3.4 overs.

Nazmul Islam (16 off 14b), Nazmul Hossain Milon (15 off 21b; 1x4), Fidel Edwards (not out 11 off 6; 1x4) and Owais Shah (11 off 29b) were the other double digit scorers for Sylhet Super Stars.

Spinner Taijul Islam grabbed 3 wickets for 23 runs in 4 overs while Mohammad Sami took one wicket for 9 runs also in 4 overs.

Earlier, batting first after winning the toss Barisal Bulls were restricted at 108 for all in 19.3 overs with Nadif Chowdhury scoring team highest 24 off 28 runs with one four and one six and fell victim of run out at team’s 101 for 8 in 17 overs.

Barisal Bulls started with a bit good note as their opening pair between Shahriar Nafees and Rony Talukdar contributed a 34 runs in 3.5 overs.

Rony Talukdar was caught by Mushfiqur Rahim off Subashis Roy bowling scoring 20 off 15 runs with two boundaries.

Shahriar Nafees followed Rony Talukdar soon as he was caught by Ravi Bopara off a Fidel Edwards bowling at 34/2 in 4.1 overs.

Sabbir Rahman (15 off 14b), Rony Talukdar (12 off 11b; 2x4) and Taijul Islam (not out 10 off 17b; 1x4) were the other double digit scorers for Barisal Bulls.

Nazmul Islam grabbed 3 wickets for 18 runs in 4 overs. Ravi Bopara, Mohammad Shahid, Subashis Roy, Fidel Edwards took one wicket each for 14, 15, 19 and 35 runs respectively in 4, 3.3, 3 and 4 overs.

With this result, Barisal Bulls tasted their 2nd successive victories in the six-team meet as they beat Shakib Al Hasan’s Rangpur Riders by 13 runs in their first match early on Monday.
