Dhaka: Rangpur Riders managed their third victory in the franchise-based 3rd Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) beating Sylhet Super Stars by six runs in the tournament 9th Twenty20 match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Thursday.

Chasing a 110 runs to set the win, Sylhet Super Star were bundled out for 103 runs in 19.2 overs with Mominul Haque scoring the highest 29 off 23 balls with six fours. Mominul was trapped lbw by Thisara Perera leaving the team total at 52 for 3 in 7.4 overs.  

Skipper Mushfiqur Rhim stayed in his number 4th position till the end to score unbeaten 25 off 34 balls with two fours, but no one could successfully paired with him and even failed to touch the double digit score.

Opener Dilshan Munaweera was out for 17 off 11 balls with two fours and one six leaving the team total to 31 for 2 in 3.4 overs.

World famed all-rounder cum Rangpur Riderts skipper Shakib Al Hahsan who was adjudged man of the match grabbed 3 wickets for 31 runs in 4 overs while Abu Jayed took two wickets for a economic 5 runs in 1.2 overs.

Darren Sammy, Thisara Perera, Sachithara Senanayake and Arafat Sunny took one wicket each for 7, 11, 15 and 27 runs respectively in 1, 4, 4 and 4 overs.  

Earlier, batting first after winning the toss Rangpur Riders scored 109 for 9 in 20 overs riding on the skipper Shakib Al Hasan team highest 33 off 37 balls involving two fours and one six.

Thisare Perera scored 21 runs off 20 balls with two fours while Lendl Simmons (13 off 14b; 2x4) was another double figure scorer for Rangpur Riders.

Rangpur Riders faced early jolt losing two top order batsmen Soumya Sarkar and Lendl Simmons at 23/2 in 4.1 overs as well as lost their rest batsmen in a gradual interval except all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and Thisare Perera.

Number six Thisare Perera was bowled out by Ravi Bopara leaving team total to 80/5 in 13.4 overs while number three Shakib Al Hasan was caught by Josh Cobb off a Mohammad Shahid delivery at team 108/8 in 19.2 overs.

Mohammad Shahid captured 4 wickets for economic 12 runs in 4 overs while Ravi Bopara, Nazmul Islam and Nasum Ahmed took one wicket each for 8, 11 and 15 runs respectively in 4, 2 and 2 overs.
