Dhaka: Bangladesh women's cricket team got off to a good start in the ICC Women's World Twenty20 Qualifier beating their Thailand counterparts by 73 runs in their opening group A match held on Saturday at the Thailand Cricket Ground in Bangkok, Thailand.   

Chasing a winning target of 106 runs set by Bangladesh, Thailand found the chase very stiff losing wickets in regular intervals and finally dismissed at a paltry total of 32 runs in 14.4 overs in the face of devastating bowling attacks by the Tigress bowlers.  

Chanida Sutthiruang (13) was the only notable batsman, who able to reach the double digit.

Ritu Moni, Fahima Khatun and Rumana Ahmed bagged two wickets each conceding 1/1/ and 5 runs respectively.  

Earlier, Bangladesh, rode on Ayasha Rahman's brilliant 30-run knock, scored a decent total of 105 for 6 from their stipulated 20 overs, after they were forced to bat first by Thailand.  

Besides, Fargana Haque (23 n.o), Shaila Sharmin (17) and Sharmin Akter (12) were the other notable scorers for Bangladesh. Suleeporn Laomi and Nattaya Boochatham were the most successful bowlers for Thailand picking up two wickets each conceding 17 and 22 runs respectively.  

The Bangladesh eve team will play their remaining group matches against Scotland and Papua New Guinea on Sunday (November 29) and Tuesday (December 1).
