Chittagong: Chittagong Vikings continued to show their frustrating performance in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 Cricket as they suffered 4th defeat in their 5th match losing to Barisal Bulls by 33 runs in their home match at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium here on Monday.

Sent in to bat first, Barisal Bulls piled up a fighting total of 170 runs for 7 in 20 overs, despite losing five wickets for 63 runs in 11.1 overs.

Former national vice-captain cum Barisal Bulls captain Mahmudullah Riyad made a half century scoring 51 runs off 45 balls featuring three fours and one six before being caught by Kamran Akmal off a Elton Chigumbura delivery at 159 for 7 in 19 overs.

Number seven S Prasanna quick-fired 36 off just 20 balls hitting one four and four sixes while lower order KK Cooper scored an unbeaten 21 runs off 11 balls including two sixes while one down Mehedy Maruf added 25-ball 28 runs with one four and two sixes.

Pakistani bowler Mohammad Amir and local all rounder Ziaur Rahman grabbed two wickets each conceding 20 and 24 runs respectively. Tillakaratne Dilshan, Shafiul Islam and Elton Chigumbura took one wicket each.

Chasing a fighting total of 171 runs, Chittagong Vikings were all out for 137 runs in 19.5 overs against Barisal Bulls pace attack and conceded the 3rd defeat in a row after beating Sylhet Super Stars by one-run in their 2nd match in Dhaka.

After the dismissal of five top order batsmen -- skipper Tamim Iqbal (6), Kamran Akmal (0), Tillakaratne Dilshan (19), Anamul Haque Bijoy (12) and Elton Chigumbura (5) - for 51 runs in 9.4 overs, all rounder Naeem Islam tried his best to repair the early damage scoring 40-ball 38 runs with three fours, but failed due to lack of proper support from other end.

Number seven Ziaur Rahman pairing with Mohammad Amir added 26 runs in the 6th wicket stand. Pakistani Mohammad Amir scored 12-ball 20 runs featuring two over boundaries, Ziaur Rahman scored run-a-ball 13 with one four and one six while pacer Shafiul Islam hit six-ball 12 runs with two boundaries.

KK Cooper, who earlier quick-fired 21 runs, claimed three wickets for 28 runs to be adjudged man of the match. Al Amin Hossain grabbed two wickets for 34 runs while Mohammad Sami, Taijul Islam and Muhmudullah Riyad took one wicket each.
