BPL: Victorians beat Dynamites by 10 runs
Chittagong: Comilla Victorians beat Dhaka Dynamites by 10 runs in the 17th match of the 3rd Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium on Wednesday.
Replying to Comilla Victorians’ moderate score of 141/7, Dhaka Dynamites finished on 131/6 in 20 overs.
Iconic player Nasir Hossain scored team highest 32 off 30 balls with two sixes while skipper Kumar Sangakkara scored 30 off 27 balls with four fours.
Number seven batsman Abul Hasan scored not out 12 off 11 balls with two fours while Malcolm Waller (11 off 10b; 1x4), Ryan ten Doeschate (11 off 15b) and Shadman Islam (10 off 11b) were the other double figure scorers for Dhaka Dynamites.
Abu Hider grabbed 2 wickets for 30 runs while skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and Shuvagata Hom took one wicket each for 18 and 24 runs respectively, all bowling 4 overs apiece.
Earlier, sent in to bat first, Comilla Victorians scored a moderate score of 141 for 7 in 20 overs.
Ashar Zaidi who was adjudged man of the match scored the highest unbeaten 45 off 29 balls involving two fours and three sixes.
Apart from his individual performance, Ashar Zaidi pairing with number eight batsman Shuvagata Hom contributed 45 runs in 3.4 overs in the 7th wicket stand to carry the team total to 133/7 in 19.5 overs from 88/6 in 16.1 overs, before Shuvagata was caught by Shadman Islam off Farhad Reza bowling.
Opener Liton Kumar Das scored 31 off 34 balls with two fours and was caught by Ryan ten Doeschate off a Mosharraf Hossain delivery at 70/5 in 13.1 overs.
Shuvagata Hom hit 21 off 11 balls with three fours while another double figure scorer Alok Kapali added run-a-ball 10 with one four.
Conceding 26 runs each, Farhad Reza and Yasir Shah grabbed 2 wickets apiece respectively in 3 and 4 overs.
Mosharraf Hossain, Nasir Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman took one wicket each for 3, 19 and 33 runs respectively in 1, 3 and 4 overs.
With this result, Comilla Victorians earned 8 points from 6 matches with 4 wins and 2 losses while Dhaka Dynamites secured 6 points from as many matches with 3 wins and 3 losses.
