Former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket Team Khaled Mahmud Sujon will be airlifted to Singapore on Monday night for better treatment.

Earlier, Mahmud Sujon, who is now a director of BCB, was admitted to a private hospital in Dhaka after he suffered a stroke on Sunday.

Primarily, he was taken to Kurmitola Hospital. However, later his family shifted him to United Hospital Limited.

Bangladesh Cricket Board Chief Executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said Sujon was admitted to capital’s United Hospital Limited after he felt discomfort.

He has been suffering from high blood pressure and diabetic problems for some days. Sujon was hospitalized as his physical condition deteriorated on Sunday morning. He is now kept at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital.

BCB officials said the former cricket team captain might be airlifted to Singapore for better treatment, if his condition does not improve.

Sujon, who celebrated his 46th birthday few days back, was expected to present at BCB’s meeting on Sunday. However, he could not attend the meeting due to his illness.

Sujon was a medium-pace bowler and middle-order batsman who played international cricket for Bangladesh from 1998 to 2006, captaining the team from 2003 to 2004.

Mahmud retired from international cricket in 2006, scoring a respectable 36 in his final match. He served as the assistant coach of the Bangladesh national cricket team and is now the manager of the team.
