Dhaka: Bangladesh cricket team Test captain Mushfiqur Rahim vowed to stand beside the flood affected people of the country and urged all to come forward to help them.

In a one minute and 16 second video massage on facebook on Tuesday, Mushfiqur said, "We all know how terrible flood situation has been created in the country. I vow to stand by the flood affected people."

"I'm requesting you to help them...some of you have already extended your helping hand but they need more. You people come forward with financial support or relief or in any other help," said Mushfiqur in an emotion-choked voice in his video massage.

"The people of northern districts, especially Dinajpur and Thakurgaon, are the worst sufferers. I'm requesting you who are not able to help to pray to Almighty Allah so that they can get rid of the terrible situation and can come back to normal life soon. I hope you will keep my request," he concluded.

At least 23 people died and 68,219 hectares of crops were went under water till Tuesday as flood which started last week inundated vast areas in the northern and northeastern districts of the country.
