Dhaka: A day after his omission from the team, top order batsman and most consistent performer in the longer version cricket Mominul Haque was recalled to the Bangladesh's squad on Sunday for the first Test against touring Australia scheduled to begin on August 27 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in Dhaka.

BCB President Nazmul Hassan Papon made the announcement in the afternoon at the BCB office at SBNCS after a closed-door informal meeting with the team coach and chief selector.

Mominul replaced Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, who was suffering from eye injuries, in the 14-man Bangladesh squad announced by BCB chief selector Minhajul Ahmed Nannu on Saturday.

Test cricket specialist Mominul's exclusion from the squad raised so many questions among cricket fans, media and social media that the BCB boss came to the office without any schedule and made the announcement.

Papon said the Bangladesh squad for the 1st Test will be of 14 members and Mominul entered the team replacing Mosaddek as they do not want to take risk keeping the injured latter in the team.

Earlier on Saturday, all-rounder Nasir Hossain and medium pacer Shafiul Islam were recalled to the squad axing Mahmudullah Riyad and Mominul Haque alongside Rubel Hossain, Kamrul Islam Rabbi and Subhashis Roy.

Top order batsman Mominul Haque had been dropped from the squad for the first time since his debut in March 2013.

The 14-member team for the first Test: Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Soumya Sarker, Mushfiqur Rahim (Captain), Shakib Al Hasan, Sabbir Rahman, Liton Kumar Das, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Mominul Haque, Taijul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Shafiul Islam and Nasir Hossain.
