Dhaka: Australia captain Steve Smith said he is surprised by the comments from the Bangladesh camp about a 2-0 series victory.

Smith was asked whether he found it surprising that some of the Bangladesh players and even the coach had mentioned a 2-0 series victory in favour of Bangladesh.

Smith said, ‘It’s pretty confident, isn’t it?’

Smith, who as the Australia captain is not a rookie when it comes to mind games, said that Tigers must be a very confident team right now to come out and say that.

‘I think Bangladesh have won only nine of their 100 games so it’s very confident.’

‘Look, they are obviously confident about their performance at the moment. They are at home and most teams play well at home and Bangladesh have been playing well at home, so it’s going to be a good challenge for us.’

Smith also talked about his counterpart Mushfiqur Rahim and said, ‘I have not played a lot against Mushfiqur as a captain but I think he has improved a lot in the last couple of years in his game.’

‘He has scored some valuable runs for Bangladesh. I think he will be looking forward to playing this series against Australia.’
