Dhaka: Bangladeshi bowlers made quick inroads into the Australia batting line-up taking three wickets for 18 runs at the end of 1st day's play after the Tigers finished their 1st innings on 260 runs in the 1st Test at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.

Australia opened the 1st innings and scored 18 for three in 9 overs at stumps when Matt Renshaw (6 off 25b; 1x4) and skipper Steven Smith (3 off 7b) were in the crease.

Mehedi Hasan Miraz made the first breakthrough for Bangladesh dismissing opener David Warner (8 off 15b; 1x4) who was trapped lbw at 9 in 5.3 overs. With his 1st ball, Miraz dismissed Warner.

Usman Khawaja fell victim of run-out after a single run while Nathan Lyon was out with duck as he was trapped lbw by Shakib Al Hasan at 14/3 in 7th over.

Earlier, the hosts played 78.5 overs to post 260 for the cost of all their wickets where all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and opener Tamim Iqbal hammered individual fifties scoring 84 and 71 runs respectively in their 50th Test.

Shakib and dashing opener Tamim were out after recovering the early damage as they shared a 155-run partnership in 41 overs in the 4th wicket stand to carry the team collection to 165/4 in 45.3 overs from 10/3 in 4 overs.

Shakib was out with 84 off 133 balls, including 11 boundaries. He was caught by Aussie captain Steven Smith off Nathan Lyon bowling at 188/5 in the 54th over.

Tamim left the crease scoring 71 off 144b alls, including five boundaries and three sixes, being caught by David Warner off part-time off-spin bowler Glenn Maxwell when the team collection was 165/4 in 45.3 overs.

Tamim fired three sixes and two boundaries off 119 balls to complete his 23rd Test fifty while Shakib faced 56 balls and hit seven boundaries for his 22nd fifty.

All-rounder Nasir Hossain who returned to the longest format of cricket after a two-year break fired three boundaries off 61 balls to score 23 runs which was the 3rd highest individual score for Bangladesh.

Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Mehedi Hasan Miraz added 18 runs each while pace bowler Shafiul Islam scored 13 runs off 17 balls, including three boundaries, in the end.

Mushfiqur faced 50 balls firing two boundaries. He was trapped lbw by Ashton Agar when the team collection was 198/6 in 60.1 overs.

The Aussie bowlers jolted the Tigers' batting line-up in the early taking three wickets for 10 in 4 overs with their pace bowler Pat Cummins capturing all the scalps.

Winning the toss, Bangladesh opted to bat first and suffered early nightmare as opening batsman Soumya Sarkar was out for run-a-ball 8 with two boundaries while Imrul Kayes and Sabbir Rahman left the ground with ducks.

Soumya was out at 10/1 in 1.5 overs while Imrul and Sabbir were returned to the pavilion in the 5th and 6th ball respectively in the 4th over also at 10.

Ashton Agar, Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon captured three wickets each conceding 46, 63 and 79 runs in 12.5, 16 and 30 overs respectively.
