Dhaka: Southpaw opener Tamim Iqbal scored his second half-century of the match to help Bangladesh's consolidated their lead over Australia on the third day of the first Test on Tuesday.

The left handed batsman Tamim was again in superb form with the bat in the second innings as he rescued Bangladesh's innings with a priceless 78 runs after the host suffered early batting jolt in the morning session.

Tamim played a magnificent knock of 78 off 155 balls that was studded eight boundaries and shared with his skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (41) a useful 66 run partnership for the fourth wicket with Bangladesh seeking their first-ever win over Australia in what is only their fifth meeting in a Test.

The left-hander dispatched Ashton Agar to backward point for four to complete his second that studded eight delightful boundaries before he was caught behind by wicket keeper Wade off Cummins delivery.
