Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday announced a Tk 6-crore bonus for the Tigers for their maiden Test victory against Australia.

BCB president Nazmul Hassan Papon made the announcement just after the conclusion of the match where Bangladesh beat Australia by 20 runs on the 4th day at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday.

"We've received Tk 4 crore from the ICC as the winning money for our semifinal berth in the Champions Trophy and they (cricketers) will be given Tk 2 crore more for their Test victory against Australia," Papon said while talking to reporters.

The BCB boss confirmed that the cricketers will get their bonus on Thursday.

Beating Australia, the Tigers took a 1-0 lead in the two-match Test series.

Bangladesh achieved the feat in their 5th battle against Australia who came here to play a two-match Test series after 11 years break.

This is the Tigers' 9th win against 15 draws in 101 Test appearances.

After having their Test status in 2000, Bangladesh 1st played Test against Australia in July 2003 at Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin.

The 2nd Test of the two-match series will begin on September 4 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong after Eid-ul-Azha.
