Dhaka: Bangladesh collected 12 off 19 balls for 2 in the third session on day three to finish the first innings giving a 176-run lead advantage to South Africa 496/3-d in the first Test at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom on Saturday.

The scrambling Tigers resumed the first innings on the day with overnight score of 127/3 in 34 overs and raised their tally to 320/10 in 89.1 overs spurred with two half centuries by Mominul Haque (77) and Mahmudullah Riyad ( 66).

Mahmudullah faced 124 balls to fire 11 boundaries and one six to complete his 14th Test half century, before being bowled out by Duanne Olivier at 304/7 in 83.4 overs.

Mahmudullah shared a partnership of 65 off 17.4 overs with Sabbir Rahman (30 off 46b; 4x4; 1x6) in the 6th stand to carry the team collection to 292/6 in 80.1 overs starting from 227/5 in 63.3 overs after Mominul Haque's dismissal.

Mominul who scored 77 runs, the highest Test score by a Bangladesh batsman in South Africa, facing fiery spells from Kagiso Rabada and Morne Morkel in the first session, departed from crease soon after lunch, leaving the team total at 227/5 in 63.3 overs.

For his 12th half century in the longest format, overnight batsman Mominul faced 150 balls to fire 12 boundaries and shared a partnership innings of 55 in 20.4 overs with Tamim Iqbal in the 4th stand that stared from 103/3 in 25.1 overs after the departure of skipper Mushfiqur Rahim on day 2.

Tamim who batted at number-five position for the first time in his Test career, survived twice from review those called by South Africa in 37.2 and 39.1 overs before he was caught by an incredible one-handed catch of keeper Quinton de Kock off Andile Phehlukwayo at 158/4 in 45.3 overs. He departed from overnight 4th stand scoring 39 off 67 balls, including six boundaries and one six.

Tamim started the day on a positive note with a beautifully timed drive through point off Kagiso Rabada. Morne Morkel, though, found an extra bounce and kept him quiet. Rabada then hit rhythm and Tamim's pads twice in two overs with HawkEye siding with the on-field umpire's not-out call on both occasions.

Keshav Maharaj captured three wickets for 92 runs while Morne Morkel and Kagiso Rabada bagged two wickets each for 51 and 84 runs respectively. Andile Phehlukwayo and Duanne Olivier took one wicket apiece for 18 and 52 runs.
