Dhaka: Dashing Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal who got his left thigh injured is expected to return to the crease in the three-match ODI series against South Africa.

Tigers' physiotherapist Thihan Chandramohan on Thursday said, "If his recovery goes as per the plan, we're hopeful that he will be fit for the first ODI on October 15."

"These findings coupled with his worsened clinical signs," Chandramohan told the media after examining an ultrasound scan demonstration of grade 1 hip muscle strain of Tamim who underwent the scan after the first Test.

Tamim suffered an injury and was ruled out of the second Test against South Africa which will start on Friday in Bloemfontein.

Despite suffering the injury during the three-day pre-series warm-up match at Willowmoore Park in Benoni on September 21, Tamim played the first Test with the annoying strain in left thigh in Potchefstroom, scoring 39 and 0 in Bangladesh's 333-run defeat.

Bangladesh will play ODIs against hosts South Africa on October 15, 18 and 22. The 1st ODI will be held at De Beers Diamond Oval, Kimberley while the 2nd and 3rd ODIs at Boland Park and Buffalo Park respectively.

Bangladesh ODI squad: Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (Captain), Tamim Iqbal Khan, Litton Kumar Das, Soumya Sarker, Imrul Kayes, Mahmudullah, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan (Vice Captain), Shabbir Rahaman, Nasir Hossain, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Rubel Hossain and Mohammad Saif Uddin
