Mashrafe, Shakib leave for South Africa

Dhaka: Bangladesh ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and world famed all rounder Shakin Al Hasasn along with two other national cricketers left Dhaka for South Africa on Saturday morning to join the Bangladesh squad, now playing the 2nd Test against the Proteas in Bloemfontein.

Captain of Bangladesh T20 team Shakib Al Hasan, another all round Nasir Hossain and newcomer Mohammad Saifuddin accompanied by Mashrafe left capital for Dubai by an Emirates flight enroute to South Africa. They are expected to join the team in Bloemfontein on Sunday.

Visiting Bangladesh team will play a three-match ODI series against hosts South Africa on October 15, 18 and 22 respectively. Touring Bangladesh team is schedule to play an one-day preparatory match against local selections on Oct 12 at the same venue.

The 1st ODI will be held at De Beers Diamond Oval, Kimberley while the 2nd and 3rd ODIs at Boland Park and Buffalo Park respectively.

Shakib Al Hasan will lead in the Bangladesh side in two-match T20 series beginning there on October 26.

Mominul Haque included in the Bangladesh squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series in the dying moment after official announcement of the 15-member final sqaud.

A genuine Test batsman, Mominul called for ODI team after a break of about three-years. The left-handed batsman, who played his last one-day international in February 2015, so far played 26 ODIs and scored 543 at an average of 23.60 runs.

Earlier, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced a 15-member ODI squad including pacer cum all-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin. But the inclusion of Mominul, the Bangladesh ODI squad now expanded to 16-member.

Bangladesh ODI squad: Mashrafe Bin Mortaza (captain), Tamim Iqbal, Liton Kumar Das, Soumya Sarkar, Imrul Kayes, Mahmudullah Riyad, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Shabbir Rahaman, Nasir Hossain, Mehedi Hasan Miraz, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Rubel Hossain, Mohammad Saif Uddin and Mominul Haque.
