Dhaka: Bangladesh were trailed by 419 runs with 10 wickets in hand in the 2nd innings as the visitors faced follow on in the 2nd and last Test against South Africa after the 2nd day's play at Mangaung Oval, Bloemfontein on Saturday.

To avoid an innings defeat in the match, Bangladesh must score 420 runs more in the 2nd innings as they scored 7/0 in 8 balls, at stumps, after opening the innings on the day's 3rd session where Imrul Kayes (6*) and Soumya Sarkar (1*) were at the crease in the opening stand.

Replying to South Africa's 573/4-d, Bangladesh opened the 1st innings before tea break on day 2 and finished at 147/10 in 42.5 overs to follow on.

Wicket-keeper cum batsman Liton Kumar Das played a quick innings of 70 off 77 balls, firing 13 boundaries, before being sent off by Kagiso Rabada in 39th over at 143/8.

Liton, who was caught by Wayne Parnell after completing his career 2nd Test half century, shared a sensible partnership innings of 50 off 22.5 overs lulled by Taijul Islam in the 7th wicket stand, starting after a disasters top-order fall of 65/6 in 19.3 overs.

The 7th pair ended up on 115/7 in 31.2 overs as the regular spin bowler Taijul (12 off 38 balls) was bowled out by Duanne Olivier.

After the departure of Liton, the remaining two wickets -- Mustafizur Rahman and Rubel Hossain -- stayed for 3.5 overs to add 4 more runs.

Opener Imrul Kayes (26 off 46b; 4x4) and Rubel Hossain (10 off 33b; 2x4) were the two other double-digit scorers for Bangladesh.

At tea, Bangladesh were 61/4 in 17.0 overs with Kayes and Liton were at the crease in the 5th wicket stand, started after suffering the quick fall of 49/4 in 14.2 overs.

Kayes was out early in the 3rd session at 61/5 in 17.3 overs.

The Tigers lost four top-order batsmen for 61 in 17 overs in less than one session opening the 1st innings before tea.

Kagiso Rabada bowled out Soumya Sarkar (9) at 13/1 in 6.4 overs for the 1st breakthrough then Duanne Olivier departed two successive wickets -- Mominul Haque (4) and skipper Mushfiqur Rahim (7) -- before Wayne Parnell dismissed Mahmudullah Riyad (4) at the quick fall of 49/4 in 14.2 overs.

Kagiso Rabada 5/33, Duanne Olivier 3/40 and Wayne Parnell 1/36 extracted the Tigers batting strength.

Earlier, boosted up with four centuries in a less four-session, South Africa declared 573/4-d the 1st innings after the lunch break of the 2nd day.

South Africa skipper and overnight batsman Faf du Plessis (135* off 181b; 15x4) and Quinton de Kock (28*) remained unbeaten at the declared-close of the innings.

The Proteas started the 2nd session with 530/3 in 113 overs and played 7 overs to add 43 runs more for the cost of overnight batsman Hashim Amla at 535/4 in 114 overs.

Subashis Roy, who made the 1st breakthrough for the Tigers on the 1st day, bowled out Amla (132 off 163b; 17x4) to take the 2nd day's only wicket as well as to break the Proteas overnight 4th wicket stand that contributed 247 off 52.4 overs.

On the rain-interrupted second day's play, South Africa resumed the 1st innings with overnight score of 428/3 in 90 overs and raised their tally to 573/4 in 120 overs where Aiden Markram (143) and Dean Elgar (113) were two other centurions on day 1.

Amla and Plessis completed their centuries before the day's lunch break at South Africa's collection of 530/3 in 113 overs where Amla and Plessis were on batting sharing 241 off 51.4 overs, playing 23 overs in the1st day's 1st session to add 102 runs more with their previous collection of 428/3 in 90 overs.

Subashis Roy bagged three wickets for 118 runs in the innings.
