Defending champions Dhaka Dynamites have got back their top spot of the 5th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20, crushing bottom-rung Chittagong Vikings by seven wickets in the 29th match of the league at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium on Monday.

All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan-led Dhaka Dynamites moved up to the top from 3rd with day’s victory collecting 11 points from nine match, having five wins, three losses and one no result.

Chasing a target of 188 runs, Dhaka Dynamites reached their destination scoring 191 for 3 in 18.5 overs where Evin Lewis dazzled with a quick-firing half century of 75 off 31 balls, reports the UNB.

Skipper Shakib Al Hasan fired a boundary in the match’s last ball off Taskin Ahmed to seal the victory and to share an unbeaten partnership of 67* off 6.3 overs with Cameron Delport in the 4th wicket stand, starting from 124/3 in 12.2 overs.

Delport played an innings of 43* off 24 balls, including two boundaries and three sixes, while Shakib add 22* off 17 balls with three boundaries. 

Man of the match Lewis shared a partnership of 116 off 10.5 overs with Joe Denly in the 2nd wicket stand to carry the team total to 119/2 in 11.2 overs, starting after the dismal dismissal of Shahid Afridi in the innings very 3rd ball off Taskin Ahmed when their team collection was only one.

Lewis’ innings featured nine over boundaries and three boundaries before he was caught by Najibullah Zadran off Rayad Emrit to be off from the 2nd stand.

Joe Denly was caught by Sikandar Raza off Tanbir Hayder after scoring 44 off 39 balls, including four boundaries and one six, when the team collection was on 124/3 in 12.2 overs from where Delport and Shakib started their partnership innings.

Tanbir Hayder, Rayad Emrit and Taskin Ahmed took one wicket each for 18, 24 and 37 runs respectively for Chittagong.

Batting first after winning the toss, Chittagong scored 187 for 5 in 20 overs riding on the 2nd pair stand of 107 off 11.1 overs between Anamul Haque Bijoy and skipper Luke Ronchi.

Starting from 17/1 in 2.3 overs, the 2nd wicket stand was ended on 124/2 in 13.2 overs as Ronchi was caught by Shahid Afridi off skipper Shakib Al Hasan.

Bijoy hammered a half century of 73 off 47 balls, including three boundaries and six over boundaries, before being caught by Cameron Delport off Abu Hider on 148/4 in 17.2 overs.

Opener Ronchi stayed for 59 off 40 balls, including four boundaries and four sixes, while number 6 batsman Sikandar Raza played unbeaten innings of 26* off 11 balls, including four boundaries.

Najibullah Zadran was another double digit scorer adding 16 off 10 balls with a four and a six.

Sunil Narine, Mohammad Shahid, Abu Hider and Shakib bagged one wicket each for 11, 28, 35 and 51 runs respectively.

Chittagong collected five points from nine matches, having two wins six losses and one no result.
