Chittagong: Sylhet Sixers lodged an official complain to the match referee as their pacer Kamrul Islam Rabbi had to deliver seven balls due to a 'mistake' of the on-filed umpire in 16th over in the second innings against Rangpur Riders in the 31st match of the 5th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

According to the complaint, after delivering six balls in the 16th over, Sylhet's pacer Rabbi went to the umpire to take back his cap.

However, umpire Mahfuzur Rahman informed that Rabbi bowled five balls and there was one ball left to complete the over, forcing the Sylhet pacer to challenge the matter.

Following this, Mahfuzur Rahman discussed with the 3rd umpire Gazi Sohel and confirmed Rabbi that one ball was still remaining.

"I counted balls during my delivery, I told on-field umpire that I have delivered six balls, but he replied there was ball left to complete the over. Then I told him to make a cross check. He made phone call to the 3rd umpire who agreed on-field umpire and I delivered one ball more," Rabbi said while talking to journalists in the post match press conference.

Rangpur, later, won the match by four wickets with two balls to spare.

Sylhet Sixers media manager confirmed they submitted a written complain to the match referee Neeyamur Rashid in this regard as they found the truth.
