Chittagong Vikings made their early exit from the last four race of the seven-team 5th Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 after a 33-run loss against Rajshahi Kings in the 33rd match of the league at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Cricket Stadium (ZACCS) on Wednesday.

A captain’s knock by Darren Sammy followed by Kazi Anik’s fierce bowling spells saw Rajshahi Kings to register a 33-run victory over Chittagong Vikings in the 33rd match of the AKS Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) T20 held on Wednesday at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium.

Anik finished his spell with an impressive figure of 4 for 17 in 3.2 overs to dismiss Chittagong Vikings after Rahshahi Kings set a winning target of 158 for Chittagong, reports the BSS.

Chittagong suffered early batting jolt and they lost their wickets in regular intervals in the face of disciplined bowling attacks by the Rajshahi Kings bowlers and eventually dismissed at 124 in 19.2 overs.

Stiaan van Zyl top scored with 27 runs followed by Anamul Haque (23), Sikandar Raza (17), Soumya Sarkar (13) and Tanvir Haider (13) as neither any Vikings batsman failed to build any effective partnership to chase the total.

Apart from Anik’s for wickets haul, bowling sensation Mustafizur Rahman captured 2 for 18 runs from 4 overs.

Rajshahi’s skipper Darren Sammy was named the payer of the match for his entertaining knock.

Earlier, Rajshahi Kings score a polish total of 157 for 6 from their allotted 20 overs courtesy of Daren Sammy and James Frankline responsible batting display after they decided to bat first.

Rajshahi Kings suffered early batting jolt as they slipped to 4 for 86 in 11.3 overs in the face of tight bowling display by the Vikings bowlers.

Then skipper Darren Sammy and James Frankline took the responsibility to repair the early damage as they duo contributed 69-run for the fifth wicket stand to take the team to a comfortable position.

The right handed batsman Sammy top scored with 25-ball off 40 runs laced with two boundaries and three over boundaries while Frankline supported him with a useful run-a-ball 30 that studded with two boundaries both fell to Luis Raeece.

Mushfiqur Rahim (31), Luke Right (25) and Zakir Hasan (17) were the other notable scorers for Rajshahi Kings.

Luis Reece was the pick of Chittagong bowler as he grabbed three wickets conceding 33 runs in three overs.

With this victory Rajshahi Kings secured eight points from 10 matches while bottom-ranked Chittagong Vikings remained at their previous credit of five points playing the same number of matches.
