Bangladesh smartly reached the final of the four-nation South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Under-15 Women’s Championship with an all-win record outplaying India by 3-0 goals in their last league match at Bir Shrestha Shaheed Sipahi Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur on Thursday.

The two neighbouring countries — hosts Bangladesh and India — will meet each other again in the final on Sunday (Dec 24) at 2:00pm at the same venue, reports the UNB.

After the match, Bangladesh qualified for the title-deciding final securing full nine points from straight three matches while India booked a seat for the final collecting six points from three league outings.

The winners led the first half by 2-0 goals.

Forward Anuching Mogini put Bangladesh ahead in the 31st minute by a header, utilising a corner of Monika Chakma (1-0).

Defender Shamsun Nahar doubled the margin in the stoppage time of the first half (45+2) from a penalty (2-0). Bangladesh got the spot kick when onrushing Shamsun Nahar was brought down by Indian defender in the danger zone.

Monika Chakma sealed the fate of the match in the 53rd minute by an angular shot after beating two opponent defenders (3-0).

Earlier in the 34th minute, Anuching Mogini spoiled an easy chance as she sent the ball outside despite beating opponent custodian.

In the day’s other match, Nepal played to a 1-1 draw with Bhutan at the same venue in the afternoon.
