BCB announces revised practice schedule ahead of tri-nation series

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday announced a revised practice schedule with the inclusion of two practice matches of the Bangladesh National Cricket team for the ensuing Tri-nations home series involving Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka’s tour of Bangladesh.

Some 32 players of the preliminary squad of Bangladesh National Cricket team started their practice from last week while Bangladesh ODI captain Masharafe Bin Mortoza joined the squad on Tuesday, reports the UNB.

As per the fresh schedule, the running, bowling and batting practices of the Bangladesh team will be held Wednesday from 8:00am to 11:00am while skill training will be held on Thursday and Friday from 9:00am to 4:30 pm at Mirpur indoor, outer and academy ground.  

Apart from, players of the preliminary squad of the Bangladesh team, split in Red and Green groups, will play two practice matches on January 6 and January 9 from 12 noon to 7:45 pm in Mirpur and 1 pm to 8:45pm at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur respectively.

Bangladesh will host a tri-nation ODI series involving Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe, beginning on January 15. It will be the first tri-nation series hosted by Bangladesh since January 2010.

Zimbabwe XI will take on BCB XI in a one-day warm-up match on January 13 at the BKSP ground-4. 

Bangladesh will play against Zimbabwe in the tri-series opener in Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur, where all seven day-night matches, including the final on January 27, will be held. 

Each side will face each other twice during the league basis matches before the final.

Sri Lanka won the previous tri-series involving the same teams in Bangladesh held in January 2009.

After the tri-series, Bangladesh will host Sri Lanka for two Tests in Chittagong and Dhaka respectively. The first Test will be played from January 31 to February 4 and the second match from February 8 to 12.

Sri Lanka’s tour will end with two T20Is — the first on February 15 in Dhaka and the second on February 18 in Sylhet.

Fixture of Sri Lanka tour of Bangladesh:

1st Test: January 31-February 4, Chittagong

2nd Test: February 8-12, Dhaka

1st T20I: February 15, Dhaka

2nd T20I: February 18, Sylhet
