Practice Match: Tamim polishes form with ton for BCB Red
Bangladesh cricket team dashing opener Tamim Iqbal hammered a century of 104 runs for BCB Red team against BCB Green in their 1st preparation match ahead of Tri-nation ODI series at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) on Saturday.
Sent in to bat first, Shakib Al Hasan-led BCB Red team scored 320 for 6 in 50-over against Mashrafe Bin Mortaza’s Green team where Tamim hit 104 off 119 balls, including 10 boundaries and two sixes, before being retired hurt, reports the UNB.
Mahmudullah Riyad was another notable scorer with 87 off 75 balls featuring three boundaries and five sixes, while pace bowler Abul Hasan played an stormy innings of 35 off 19 balls, including five fours and one six. Shakib (24), opening batsman Anamul Haque (21) and Sabbir Rahman (20) were the other double digit scorers for the side.
BCB Green team skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was fruitless conceding the most runs 87 in 9 overs. Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed and young right-arm pacer Saifuddin Ahmed took two wickets each for 47, 44 and 43 runs in 10, 9 and 6 overs respectively.
Mashrafe’s BCB Green team were on batting with 131/6 in 33 overs, till filing this report, where Mohammad Mithun (32), Nasir Hossain (25), Soumya Sarkar (28), Nazmul Islam Shanto (13) were the double digit scorers for the side.
The practice match is a part of Bangladesh’s preparation for the tri-series that also involves Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe. The series will be held at the (SBNCS) starting from January 15.
The 2nd practice match will be held at the same venue on January 9.
