Dhaka: India made a promising start in the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup beating an all-debutant Ireland side by 79 runs in their first match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Chasing a winning target of 269, Ireland lowly finished the innings at 189 for all in 49.1 overs, despite of having a nice partnership contribution of 113 runs 25.1 overs in the 5th wicket between William McClintock and Lorcan Tucker.  

W McClintock made half century scoring 58 off 86 balls featuring five fours and three seven while L Tucker tallied 57 off 89 balls including six fours for another half centuries.  

Adam Dennison scored 20 off 45 balls with three boundaries and Gray McClintock added 17 off 33 balls with one boundary.  

Rahul Batham bagged three wickets for economic 15 runs in eight-over. Delivering 10-over each Avesh Khan and Mahipal Lomror took two wickets each for 24 and 28 runs.  

Sent in to bat first in the Group-D match, upper-hand Indians cruise to 268 for 9 in 50 overs including the 5th wicket contribution of 110 runs in 17.2 overs between Sarfaraz Khan and Washington Sundar.  

Sarfaraz Khan who was adjudged man of the match, knocked the highest 74 off 70 balls involving seven boundaries and was stumped out by keeper Lorcan Tucker off Harry Tector when scoreboard showing 165/5 in 34.1 overs.  

Sundar continued his composure for a 62 off 71 balls including three boundaries before being caught by Adam Dennison off Rory Anders at 229/7 in 45.2 overs.  

In the 2nd pair Ricky Bhui paired with Rishabh Pant for 46 runs from 11.2 overs as well as to repair the early damage, before Pant was caught by Jack Tucker off Rory Anders.  

Bhui scored 39 off 54 balls with six boundaries and was caught by Dennison off Anders bowling.  

Zeeshan Ansari scored run-a-ball 36 with two boundaries while Mahipal Lomror (17 off 18b; 1x4, 1x6) was another double digit scorer for India.  

India faced the first jolt in the third delivery as their skipper-cum-opener Ishan Kishan was caught by Jack Tucker off a Joshua Little bowling.  

Bhui paired with Pant (6 off 22b; 1x4) in the 2nd wicket, after the dismal departure of Kishan for a duck, leaving the team without any run.  

Delivering 10 overs each, Anders, Joshua Little bagged three wickets apiece for 35 and 52 runs. Harry Tector and Gray McClintock took one wicket each for 24 and 35 runs in three and four overs.
