U-19 World Cup: Bangladesh to play India in 4th quarterfinal on Friday

Bangladesh will play neighbouring India in the 4th and last quarterfinal of the 16-team ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup at the Queenstown Events Centre in New Zealand on Friday to decide the last semifinalists of the global junior cricket meet.
Three teams—Australia, Pakistan and Afghanistan—have already qualified for the semifinals of the world junior meet eliminating their rivals in the quarter finals, reports the UNB.
In the quarterfinals, Australia (127/10 in 33.3 overs) eliminated Group C champions England (96/10 in 23.4) by 31 runs; Pakistan (190/7 in 47.5) defeated South Africa (189/9 in 50) by three wickets while Afghanistan (309/6 in 50) eliminated hosts New Zealand (107/10 in 28.1 overs) crushing them by 202 runs on Thursday.
Australia will play Afghanistan in the first semifinal on January 29 while Pakistan will play the 2nd semifinal on January 30 against the winners of Bangladesh-India match. The final match scheduled for February 3 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui.
Earlier, Bangladesh U-19 team (190/4 in 20) made a flying start in the global meet with an 87-run victory over Namibia (103/6 in 20) in the opening match and the young Tigers (264/8 in 50) brightened their quarterfinal berth beating Canada (198/10 in 49.3) by 66 runs in the 2nd group encounters.
Bangladesh, which finished 3rd in the last version of the meet, had to wait for the outcome of England-Canada last Group C match to confirm their last eight berth as they (175/10 in 49.2) conceded seven-wicket defeat against England (177/3 in 29.3) in their last group affairs.
Earlier, England emerged Group C champions with all-win record to qualify for the quarterfinal of the 16-team ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup crushing Canada by a huge 282 runs in the last group match making an easy passage for Bangladesh to reach the quarterfinal.
England clinched Group C crown securing full six points from all the three matches while Bangladesh finished group runners-up collecting four points from three outings, losing their only match to England by seven wickets.
