Dhaka: Bangladesh’s off-spinner Sanjit Saha has been reported with a suspect bowling action during the ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup 2016 match against South Africa at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Wednesday.

The match officials’ report, which was handed over to the Bangladesh team management after the match, cited concerns about the legality of the 18-year-old’s deliveries.

Sanjit’s bowling action will now be scrutinised further under the ICC process outlined in Section 4 of the ICC Regulations for the Review of Bowlers Reported with Suspected Illegal Bowling Actions (a copy of which can be found here).‎

An Expert Panel appointed under the ICC Regulations will review match footage of the bowling action of the off-spinner to determine if the bowling action is legal or illegal. Until the result is known, Sanjit is permitted to continue bowling in the tournament.

Bangladesh’s next match is against Scotland in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday, 31 January.
