Sylhet: Nepla reached the quarterfinal of the 11th ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup crushing Ireland by eight-wicket at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Saturday.  

Earlier, Nepal upset upper hand New Zealand by 32 runs in their Group-D first match in Fatullah at the same venue on Thursday.  

To set 132-run for win, Nepal comfortably reached the target playing 25.3 overs for 2 wickets with Yogendra Singh Karki unbeaten 61 off 81 balls including eight boundaries.  

YS Karki stayed with Aarif Sheikh for unbeaten 77 in 12 overs in the 3rd wicket. Besides, YS Karki paired with Sunil Dhamala in the 2nd wicket for another partnership contribution of 55 runs playing 13.2 overs.  

Joshua Little and Gray G McClintock took one wicket each for 17 and 21 runs in five and six overs.  

Opening bat first after winning the toss, Ireland was restricted at 131/9 in 50 overs as Sandeep Lamichhane brought catastrophe in the Ireland batting castle claiming five-for 27 in 10 overs.  

Harry Tector topscored 30 off 54 balls including one boundary while skipper cum opener Jack Tector was out for 27 off 52 balls with two fours and one six.  

Adam Dennison (21off 50b; 2x4), Lorcan Tucker (15 off 25b; 1x4) and Stephen Doheny (14 off 45b; 2x4) were the other double digit scorers for Ireland.  

S Lamichhane was adjudged man of the match for his five-for. Dipendra Singh Airee took two wickets for economic 198 runs in seven overs.

Delivering 10-over each, Sushil Kandel and Sunil Dhamala took one wicket apiece for 20 and 23 runs.  

Fichra Tucker made his Youth ODI debutant in the match for Ireland.  

The inexperienced Ireland side started their Youth ODI campaign with a 79-run defeat against mighty India in their first match on 28 January in Mirpur.
