India's Pant slams record fastest fifty in U19 cricket
Dhaka: Indian left-hand batsman Rishabh Rajendra Pant set the record of the fastest fifty in the Under-19 international cricket during their 3rd and last group match against Nepal in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.
The 18-year-old batsman-cum-wicketkeeper, Pant reached to fifty off 18-ball to set the milestone, hammering seven boundaries and two sixes.
Stepping out of the crease, opener Pant droved the ball towards mid-off area for a boundary off Prem Tamang’s bowling in 6.5 overs to complete his fifty.
Pant finally was bowled out off P Tamang before scoring 78 runs off 24 balls, featuring nine boundaries and five sixes.
Pant also stayed with skipper Ishan Kishan for 124 runs in 9.1 overs in the opening pair.
In the fog-curtailed 48-over match on the day, India notched a seven-wicket victory with 179 balls to spare against Nepal.
However, both India and Nepal confirmed their quarterfinal berth earlier after their Group-D 2nd match.
