IPL auction
Mushfiq, Tamim go unsold
Five Bangladeshi cricketers were auctioned to play in the ninth season of Indian Primer League (IPL). The auction for the star-studded lucrative league was held in Bangalore on Saturday.
However, Bangladesh left-arm pace sensation Mustafizur Rahman, mostly known all around the world for his deadly cutters, was sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad at one crore 40 lakh rupees.
The other four Bangladeshi cricketers — Mushfiqur Rahim, Tamim Iqbal, Soumya Sarkar and Taskin Ahmed — went unsold.
Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal was in the batsmen category with a base price of 50 lakh rupees.
‘Mushfiqur, Soumya and Taskin were in the wicketkeepers, all-rounders and fast bowlers category respectively, with each having a base price of 30 lakh rupees’, reports bdcricteam.com.
The unsold cricketers, however, still have chance to make their way into the IPL, as ‘the unsold cricketers could be represented again on demand of the franchises’.
