ICC U19 CWC: Pakistan placed 5th, South Africa 11th
Dhaka: Pakistan finished 5th while the previous edition champion South Africa 11th in the ongoing ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup beating their respective rivals in separate venues on Friday.
On the way to wrapping up their campaign of the 11th edition of the World Youth ODI, Pakistan notched a 7-wicket victory over England at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Spurred by Dean Foxcroft’s century of 117 runs, South Africa pulled a 138-run victory against New Zealand at Sheikh Kamal International Cricket Stadium Academy Ground in Cox's Bazar.
Pakistan vs England:
Sent in to bat first, England scored 264 for 7 in 50 overs with Sam Curran top-scoring 83 off 107 balls including 11 boundaries.
Opening batsman Tom Moores added another notable figure of 47 off 39 balls involving eight boundaries and two sixes.
Saif Ali and Sameen Gul took two wickets each for 37 and 42 runs for Pakistan.
Pakistan reached the winning target scoring 265 for 3 in 43.1 overs with opener Zeeshan Malik’s knocked of 93 off 105 balls including 15 boundaries.
Malik who was adjudged man of the match, paired with Saif Badar in the 3rd wicket for 115 runs in 20.3 overs.
Saif Badar stayed for unbeaten 75 off 80 balls with five boundaries and three sixes while another notable scorer Hasan Mohsin added not out 39 off 36 balls including four boundaries and one six.
George Garton, Sam Curran and Mason Crane took one wicket each for England.
South Africa vs New Zealand:
Replying 288 runs, New Zealand finished the innings at 150 for all in 38.4 overs with Finn Allen top-scoring 40 off 49 balls including four boundaries and three sixes.
Skipper cum opener Rachin Ravindra added 39 off 51balls with six boundaries and one six while Aniket Parikh added 35 runs.
Wiaan Mulder grabbed four wickets for economic 14 runs in 7.4 overs while Ziyaad Abrahams took two wickets for 37 runs in 8 overs.
Sent in to bat first, South Africa piled up 288 for 6 in 50 overs involving Dean Foxcroft’s century and two half centuries by Rivaldo Moonsamy and Wandile Makwetu.
Foxcroft who was adjudged man of the match, collected 117 off 137 balls featuring 13 boundaries and one six.
Moonsamy hammered 51 off 43 balls with three boundaries and three sixes while Makwetu fired unbeaten 50 off 24 balls including seven boundaries and two sixes.
Aniket Parikh took two wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs while Christian Leopard, Rachin Ravindra and Zak Gibson took one wicket each for New Zealand.
