Bangladesh finish main race losing to India

Guwahati: Bangladesh finished their main race in the 12th South Asian Games Men's Football campaign conceding 0-3 defeat against hosts India in the first semifinal at the Indira Gandhi Stadium on Saturday.

In the 3rd placing deciding match at the same venue, at 2 pm, on Monday (February 15) Bangladesh will play against the losers of the day's 2nd semifinal either Nepal or the Maldives.  

Amid miss referring by Laba Khatri of Nepal, Bangladesh faced an uneven treatment in the entire match and showed frustrating performance conceding goal one after another.

Bangladesh coach Gonzalo Sanchez Moreno was expelled from ground during the match for exchanging hot talks with referee in the 62nd minute.

Mifielder Kumam Udanta Singh put India ahead in the 21st minute by a cool push from close range as Bangladesh defenders failed to clear ball in goalmouth melee, 1-0.  

Striker Mawihmingthanga doubled the margin in the 41st minute by another cool shot from about 30 yards from a vintage position, amid cheers from very small home crowd, 2-0.

Midfielder Jayesh Dilip Rane scored the 3rd goal for India in the 64th minute by an accurate shot from left wing, 3-0.
