Bangladesh warm up well with draw against Windies President’s XI

Bangladesh cricket team warmed up them well ahead of their two Tests series against host West Indies playing out a draw against West Indies President’s XI in the two-day tour game, which ended at Stanford Cricket Ground, Coolidge in Antigua on Saturday [Bangladesh time].
Replying to Bangladesh’s 403 runs, Windies President’s XI opened the innings on the final day and ended on 310/8 in 85 overs, reports the UNB.
The Windies President’s XI innings spurred with left-handed Shimron Hetmyer’s century and skipper Shamarh Brooks’s half century along with their partnership of 130 off 30.5 overs in the 4th wicket.
Pacer Shafiul Islam sent off Brooks [72 off 152b; 12x4] by lbw on 185/4 in 55.3 overs to break the partnership, which started from 55/3 in 24.4 overs.
Wicketkeeper batsman Hetmyer [123 off 138b; 19x4; 1x6] continued up to 240/6 in 67.1 overs to share another partnership of 53 off 9.3 overs with Vishaul Singh in the 6th wicket before pacer Abu Jayed bowled out the centurion.
Vishaul Singh [45 off 83b; 7x4] was caught and bowled by part-time spin all-rounder Mahmudullah Riyad on 301/7 in 83.5 overs, while Romario Shepherd [26* off 44b; 3x4; 1x6] and TagenarineChanderpaul [24 off 71b; 3x4] were other double digit scorers for Windies President’s XI.
Abu Jayed(2/39) and Shafiul Islam (2/48) equally shared four wickets while Mahmudullah (1/13), MominulHaque (1/22), Rubel Hossain (1/24) and Kamrul Islam Rabbi (1/41) were other wicket takers for Bangladesh.
Batting first after winning the toss, Bangladesh scored 403/10 in 84.2 overs with opener Tamim Iqbal and Mahmudullah Riyad hitting a century each before both were retired out while all-rounder skipper Shakib Al Hasan completed a half century on Friday.
Tamim played an innings of 125 off 165 balls, including 17 boundaries and four sixes, while Mahmudullah hit 102 off 111 balls with 16 boundaries and one six.
Shakib [67 off 79b; 14x4], Imrul Kayes [40 off 53b; 7x4] and Mehidy Hasan Miraz [28 off 48b; 5x4] were other double digit scorers for visiting side.
Alzarri Joseph (4/53), John Campbell (1/38), Romario Shepherd (1/67), Gudakesh Motie (1/69) and Keon Harding (1/92) were the wicket takers for Windies President’s XI.
Bangladesh will play the first Test of the series against West Indies, which will begin on July 4 at Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound. The 2nd Test will begin at Sabina Park, Kingston in Jamaica on July 12.
