England beat Colombia by 4-3 goals in tiebreaker

Colombia crashed out of the FIFA World Cup 2018 as England moved into the quarterfinals beating Colombia in 4-3 tie breaker after the round of 16 match ended 1-1after regulation and extra time at the early hour of Wednesday at Otkrytie Arena in Russia.

After a barren first half, England shot into lead in the 57th minutes of the play. Harry Kane took advantage of Sanchez as he grabbed him inside the D-box and referee Geiger had no hesitation to point his finger at the penalty spot, reports the BSS.

English skipper made no mistake to convert his penalty shot into goal (1-0). This was Kane’s third penalty goal in this World Cup and he took his tally to six goals.

As it was looking that England who thought that they are through to the quarter finals, but three minutes into injury time Mina nodded the cherished equalizer for Colombia from a corner to take the game into extra time (1-1).

The first half of extra time saw Colombian for the first time in more dominant role creating three clear opportunities.

 Penalty taken by England- Harry Kane scored, Rashford scored, Henderson saw his shot brilliantly parried by rival goalkkeper Ospina, Trippier scored,   Eric Dyer scored

 Penalty taken by Colombia -Falcao, Cuadrado, Muriel all three scored, Uribe hit the post while, Bacca’s penalty shot saved by goalkeeper Jordon Pickford.

England will meet Sweden in the quarterfinals on July 7 on Saturday.
