Bangladesh cricket all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has received an official reprimand by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for breaching Level 1 of the ICC Code of Conduct during his side’s Asia Cup Twenty20 match against Pakistan in Mirpur on Wednesday, reports bdcricteam.com .

According to a press release by ICC, the iconic all-rounder was found to have breached Article 2.1.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to ‘abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings during an International Match.’

Shakib, in the 18th over of Bangladesh’s innings, hit the stumps with his bat in frustration after getting clean bowled by Mohammad Amir. However he apologised to the umpires immediately for his action.

On Thursday morning, the star cricketer admitted the offence and accepted the sanction. The sanction was proposed by Jeff Crowe of the Emirates Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees. As a result, there was no need for a formal hearing.

The charge was levelled by on-field umpires Anil Chaudhary and Ruchira Palliyaguruge, third umpire Enamul Haque and fourth official Shozab Raza. Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent of a player’s match fee.
