Dhaka: Bangladesh stalwart Mahmudullah Riyad will be in rest for two weeks and will not take part in any practice due to a shoulder injury.

However, there is no worry about his participation in the forthcoming World Cup for this injury, confirmed chief physician of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Debashis Chowdhury, reports the UNB.

The right-handed all-rounder sustained the injury before the tour of New Zealand which took serious turn during the Test series against the Kiwi.

‘We have prescribed Mahmudullah to take complete rest for two weeks. After that, we will discuss the further process to heal the blow. As per the current situation, we see no concern about his participation in the World Cup,’ Debashis said on Tuesday at BCB.

Mahmudullah supposed to play the ongoing Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League for Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club upon their qualification to the Super League stage of the event. However, this is now uncertain.

Debashis Chowdhury received a latest MRI report of Mahmudullah’s injury. However, he refused to disclose the details about the injury citing the secrecy of the player.

Another source, close to the player, has said Mahmudullah will not need more than seven days to get back to action as there are at least three more players in the national team who has been playing in international cricket managing the same kind of injuries.
