Netherlands opt to field against Bangladesh
Netherlands won the toss and elect to bowl first against Bangladesh in the first round match of ICC World T20 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, India.
This is the first match for both Bangladesh and Netherlands. The Tigers teams would look forward to win it to start the competition with confidence. The associate nations along with two full members Bangladesh and Zimbabwe have been divided into two groups, namely Group A and Group B, reports cricketcountry.com.
‘The Group A consists of Bangladesh, Ireland, Netherlands and Oman while Afghanistan, Hong Kong, Scotland and Zimbabwe have been placed in Group B. Each of the teams will play three matches in total, with rest of their group members and the table toppers of both the groups will join the 8 teams to play in the Super 10.’
‘The match is scheduled to be played at Dharamsala ground. Dharamsala, situated at the backdrop of the beautiful ranges of Himalaya, is considered as one of the most scenic cricketing venues of the world. The ground has so far hosted only two One-Day International (ODI) matches and a single Twenty20 International (T20I) while it plays host to many Indian Premier League (IPL) matches making it a premium venue for T20 matches in India.’
The last time Bangladesh played in India was in 1998, when they participated in an ODI triangular series.
In the remaining two qualifying round matches at the same venue, Bangladesh will play against Ireland and Oman on 11 and 13 March, reports UNB.
