Jahanara Alam shines in WIPL final
India: Bangladesh women pacer Jahanara Alam shone in the final of this year’s Women T20 Challenge, which is known as Women Indian Premier League, for her team Velocity. She scalped two wickets for 21 runs.
In the first innings of the final, Velocity, led by Mithali Raj, posted 121 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. In reply, Supernovas chased the target of 122 easily with four wickets in hand. They ended on 125 for six wickets in 20 overs, reports the UNB.
Jahanara conceded only eight runs in her first three overs. However, in the last over, she conceded 13 runs.
Jahanara bowled Natalie Sciver out in the last ball of her first over. Natalie tried to swipe across the line and the ball ends up skidding and shattered her stump.
In the next over, Jahanara, probable bowled the best delivery of this year’s Women T20 Challenge. She delivered toward the off-stump with a little bit of in-swing. Sophie Devine, the New Zealand sportswoman, failed to judge the ball properly and lost her stump.
Plying this event, Jahanara became the first women cricketer of Bangladesh to participate in a foreign event.
The right-arm pacer has played 35 ODIs and 56 T20Is for Bangladesh. She bagged 30 and 39 scalps respectively in ODIs and T20Is.
