Dhaka: Bangladesh is facing ICC associate nation Oman in their 3rd and last Group-A qualifying round match of the World Twenty20 at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala, India today.  

The crucial qualifying encounter for both sides, which is also the first encounter in any format of cricket, is scheduled to begin at 8:00pm Bangladesh time.  

‘We won’t be taking Oman lightly. We don’t have much footage for them, but we will prepare as hard as we do for India and Pakistan,’ Bangladesh pace bowling coach Heath Streak said to ESPN on the eve of the match day.  

Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza echoed Heath Streak adding, ‘The match against Oman is a pressure match as it’ll decide who qualifies for the Super 10 stage.  

Oman vice-captain cum left-arm spinner Aamir Kaleem said, ‘It is a win-win situation for us. If we win, we go through to the next round, but unfortunately if we can’t do that we have still achieved a lot in this tournament.’

The Bengal Tigers are still maintaining the top slot in the points table by virtue of their more net run rate followed by their opponent Oman.  

Both, Bangladesh and Oman secured identical three points each from their last two matches with one win apiece.

There is a concern among cricket fraternity that the persistent rain can hamper the match at Dharamsala.  

Earlier on Friday, two qualifying matches at Dharamsala were washed-out due to the start-off-start rain.  

If the same scenario is repeated on Sunday, it will not hamper the table topper Bangladesh to join the super-10 stage because of superior run rate.

The two other Group-A teams— the Netherlands and Ireland— have already made their exit.  

Bangladesh started their tournament campaign beating the Netherlands by 8 runs and shared the match point with Ireland in the 2nd match.

On the other camp, Oman upset Ireland by 2 wickets to make winning start and shared match points with the Netherlands.  

However, the participation of the Tigers injured cutter-master Mustafizur Rahman against Oman is still uncertain.
