Tamim becomes first Bangladeshi to score 1000 T20I runs
Dhaka: Bangladeshi dashing opener Tamim Iqbal has created record becoming the first player from Bangladesh to score 1000+ runs in Twenty20 International cricket.
The southpaw batsman, commencing the match nine runs away from the milestone, achieved the feat against Oman during Group A match of the ICC World T20 2016 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium (HPCA) Stadium in Dharamsala on Sunday.
Prior to this match, Tamim had 989 runs to his credit in 48 matches at 22.48, with the strike rate being 112.26. Tamim also had 4 fifties as of before Sunday’s match in the shortest format of the game.
Shakib Al Hasan is the second highest run-scorer for Bangladesh in T20I. From 49 T20I matches — prior to this one — he had scored 979 runs at an average of 22.77. Only 21 more runs will take him to the 1000-run club as well.
