Sri Lanka opener, Tillakaratne Dilshan was dismissed for an unfortunate duck by fast-bowler, Dale Steyn after being caught by Faf du Plessis at the second slip, against African giants, South Africa, in the first quarter-final of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) in Sydney on Wednesday. Currently, Sri Lanka are 42 for the loss of two wickets in 12 overs with veteran, Kumar Sangakkara on five and Lahiru Thirimanne on 29.

Earlier, Sri Lanka skipper, Angelo Mathews, won the toss and elected to bat first. Sri Lanka made the only change with Rngana Herath missing out on an injury, making way for young spinner, Tharindu Kaushal. While South Africa skipper, AB de Villiers, makes a couple of changes as Faf du Plessis comes in for Farhaan Behardien and Kyle Abbott coming in for Vernon Philander.

Sri Lanka and South Africa will clash in the first quarter-final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Wednesday. The battle will be between two sides that have had very similar fates so far, and both of whom bank heavily on a few players while the others merely make up the numbers.

South Africa were looking to win their first World Cup knockout match, with Sri Lanka, the 1996 champions and runners-up in 2007 and 2011 bidding for a third straight appearance in the final and whichever side wins this match will play either New Zealand or the West Indies, who meet on Saturday, in a 24 March semi-final in Auckland, reports AFP.
