Dhaka: Bangladesh’s left-arm pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman left for UK on Wednesday to join Sussex’s squad for the ongoing NatWest T20 Blast.

Mustafizur will play his first match for Sussex against Essex in Chelmsford, on 21 July.

He will be able to play at least seven matches for the county side in the T20 and one-day competition.

Mustafizur planned to depart for UK on July 13, but it was delayed by seven days due to visa issues. He finally got the visa for UK on Tuesday.

With the news of Mustafizur’s arrival, Sussex expressed happiness on their official website on 20 July.

‘Sussex Cricket are delighted to announce Mustafizhur Rahman is due to arrive in Hove on Wednesday 20th July ahead of Sussex Sharks NatWest T20 Blast fixture against Essex Eagles at Chelmsford,’ the English side said on its website.

‘The Bangladeshi international will be available for the remainder NatWest T20 Blast and Royal London One-Day Cup competitions,’ it added.

Sussexccc twitted with the 20-year old Mustafizur’s photos saying,’Hey @BCBtigers fans - look who has joined @SussexCCC for the rest of #Blast16. It’s only @Mustafiz90!’

Returning from a triumphant Indian Premier League (IPL) campaign with multiple leg injuries, Mustafizur worked on his fitness in Dhaka for nearly a month after which the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) medical staff passed him fit.

Sussex signed Mustafizur as their second overseas player, after New Zealand’s Ross Taylor, for 2016, in March.
