Bangladesh girls emerge unbeaten champions thrashing UAE

Dhaka: High flying Bangladesh under-16 women's football team emerged as the unbeaten champions of group C of the AFC U-16 Women's Championship Qualifiers with a comfortable 4-0 goals victory over United Arab Emirates (UAE) in their last group encounter held on Monday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

With the day's impressive victory, the host maintained their all win run by winning all the five games of the group to collect fifteen points to confirm the ticket of the final round scheduled to be held at Thailand in September 2017.

Bangladesh took the lead in the very third minute of the match when Marjia curved a corner from the left hand wing and skipper Krishna Rani out jumped her marker to head the ball into the far post net (1-0).

Bangladesh deprived from another goal when defender Shamsunnahar failed to convert a spot kick putting the ball wide off the side post In the 36th minute,. The first half finished in the score line of by 1-0 goals.

After the resumption, Bangladesh sat on the two goal cushion. It was Krishna again who slotted her second with right footed placing on a dipping corner of Sanjidain the 51st minute (2-0).

Striker Anuching Mogini further widened the team's margin scoring the third goal in the 61st minute with a cool headed finish. Fed with a nice through pass by Maria Manda, Anuching fired the ball into the near post net (3-0).

Substitute forward Tohura Khatun sealed the victory for Bangladesh in the 86th minute with a brilliant header from hand shaking distance after capitalizing on a cross of Monika Chakma i (4-0).

Earlier, Bangladesh got off to an auspicious start in the competition as they blanked tournament favorite Iran by 3-0 goals in their opening group C match and dumped Singapore by 5-0 goals in the second group match.

The local side maintained their winning run with an overwhelming 10-0 goals victory over Kyrgyzstan in their third group match and cross the major hurdle as they beat tournament favorite strong Chinese Taipei by 4-2 goals.

On the other hand, the UAE made their early exit as they collected only three points from four matches drew with by 2-2 goals with Singapore in their first match and 0-5 goals defeat to Chinese Taipei in their second match. The UAE then suffered a 0-5 goals defeat to Iran in their third group match but notched a consolation victory as they beat Kyrgyzstan by 3-2 goals in their fourth group match.
