Samaraweera in Bangladesh to gear up Tiger batsmen
Dhaka: Former Sri Lankan batsman Thilan Samaraweera will take charge as batting consultant for Bangladesh cricket team from Sunday.
Samaraweera reached Dhaka on Saturday after Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) hired him as a batting consultant this month ahead of the two series against Afghanistan and England.
This is his second assignment as a consultant after serving Australia.
Samaraweera ended his cricket career with 5462 runs in 81 Test matches after his debut against India in 2001. He also played 53 ODIs and 29 T20s before his retirement in 2013.
He also played for Brothers Union in the domestic cricket of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh cricketers will join the practice camp from tomorrow after Eid vacation.
Afghanistan are scheduled to land in Bangladesh on 21 September and the first ODI of the three-match series will be held on 25 September.
