Imrul ton in vain as England beat BCB XI
Dhaka: Bangladesh Cricket Board XI opener Imrul Kayes brilliant ton went in vain as allrounder Moeen Ali and wicket keeper Jos Buttler's 139-run partnership for the 6th wicket stand saw England crushed to a four wickets victory over BCB XI in the one-day practice match held on Tuesday at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah.
Chasing a massive winning target of 310 runs set by BCB XI, England hardly had to sweat as they comfortable reached their destination scoring 313 for the loss of six wickets in 46.1 overs.
Earlier Bangladesh bowlers reduced England 170 for five but Jos Buttler with a brilliant unbeaten 80 and excellent 70 runs by Moeen Ali made things look very easy for England as they chased 310 target with ease.
Opener Jason Roy with 28, James Vince 48 gave England to a good start 712 runs for the first wicket stand. And Ben Duckett 29 and Ben Stokes with 28 kept the English scoreboard moving, leaving Moeen Ali and Buttler to see England through comfortably.
Ebadat Hossain was the leading bowler for BCB XI as he picked up two wickets conceding 26 runs.
Earlier, opener Imrul Kayes scored a magnificent ton powered BCB XI to amass a massive total of 309 for nine from their allotted 50 overs, after BCBXI opted to bat first.
BCB XI eventually managed to set a massive target of 310 runs although at one stage it seemed that the first innings total would be much higher. The BCB XI lost wickets in quick succession and ended their innings for 309.
Opener Imrul composed a brilliant 121 runs from 128 balls and Mushfiqur Rahim supported him with a well played knock of 51 runs off 84 balls while allrounder Nasir Hossain contributed 46 off 75 to the BCB XI's total.
Soumya Sarkar's bad patch continues as he got out only for seven runs facing 22 balls.
Of the England bowlers, Chris Woakes grabbed three wickets while David Willey and Ben Stokes picked up two each.
