The eight other teams comprises the bottom four teams of the 2014-16 ICC Women's Championship and the four winners of the regional (Asia, Africa, East Asia-Pacific and Europe) qualifiers.

The top four teams will qualify for the ICC Women’s World Cup in England and Wales in June-July 2017.

Capel, an ECB Level 4 coach, acted as Assistant Coach of the England Women’s team which had recorded series wins against Australia, Pakistan, West Indies, New Zealand and India between 2013 and 2015 and had reached the final of the 2014 ICC Women’s World Twenty20 in Bangladesh.

From 2006 to 2012, Capel performed the role of head coach and the first team manager of the Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. As a professional cricketer Capel had a distinguished 18-year career that had began in 1981.

A right-handed batsman cum right-arm seamer, Capel represented England in 15 Tests and 23 ODIs.
