Dhaka: Sunday Chizoba’s twice in the first half helped Dhaka Abahani Ltd secure a 3-1 victory over Uttar Baridhara Club in the 10th round of the JB Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) football at Bangabandhu National Stadium on Saturday.  

With the day’s result, Abahani collected 20 points from 10 matches to secure the 2nd slot in the 12-team league table while bottom-run Baridhara earned three points from the same numbers of encounters.  

Besides, Lee Andrew Tuck netted another goal for Abahani while Faisal Ahmed Shitol reduced the margin for Uttar Baridhara scoring one goal.  

The Nigerian forward Sunday put Abahani ahead in the 15th minute by a right footer angular shot from inside the box off Pranotosh Kumar’s pass, 1-0.

Sunday doubled the margin in the 37th minute placing the ball home with his 2nd attempt. Sunday headed a cross off Lee Tuck that fisted by Baridhara goalie Ershad to clear, but Sunday was there to place the rebounded correctly, 2-0.  

Lee Tuck added the 3rd one in the 71st minutes by a right footed volley from the middle of the box, 3-0.  

Faisal Ahmed Shitol reduced the margin in the stopgap time, after 90 minutes, placing the ball into the middle of net, 3-1.  

Abahani midfielder Hemonta Vinsrent Biswas spoiled a chance in the 24th minutes as his right footer attempt went edging over the crosspiece.

Uttar Baridhara created a golden chance in the 88th minutes to reduce the margin but Javed's free kick from top of the box was brilliantly saved by Abahani custodian Shahidul Alam Sohel.
