Dhaka: Bangladesh and the visiting England warmed-up their players well with the two two-day practice matches, played between BCB XI and England XI at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong.

Bangladesh will face England in the first Test of their two-match series starting at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chittagong on Thursday.

Though the two two-day warm-up matches ended in draws, national selectors of Bangladesh got new talented cricketers from the two matches.

Leg spinner Tanveer Haider showcased a bright form bagging four wickets for 53 runs in 14 overs in the 2nd day of the 2nd match when England XI scored 294/10 in 74.4 overs in 1st innings, replying to BCB XI’s 1st innings total of 294/10 in 74.4 overs.

Tanveer drew the national selectors’ attention with his performances and has been asked to stay in Chittagong to train with the Bangladesh national team, rather than to rejoin in the squad of Rangpur Division for his first-class in the ongoing NCL.

Mohammad Abdul Mazid who has never played in the international platform for national side before, showed his form hitting a eye-catching century of 106 in his opening position.

The 18-year boy Nazmul Hossain Shanto from Rajshahi who never represented the national side in any formats in international event played a long 130-ball innings for 72 runs in the 1st innings of 2nd warm-up match.

Sabbir Rahman made the opportunity to make Test debut as he secured a place in the Tigers 14-men Test squad for the first Test against England.

Sabbir showed the ability of his bowling with 3/27 in the 1st warm-up match where he led BCB XI, apart from his talented stroke-play with bat for national side in the ODI and T20I.

Widely acclaimed for his talented batting, Sabbir scored 623 runs at average 29.66 playing 29 ODIs making his debut in this format in November 2014.

Sabbir made his international debut against Sri Lanka in February, 2014 in a T20I series and played so far 26 matches to collect 604 at average 30.20 runs.

Shahriar Nafees who played Test for national side last in 2013, made a half century in the 1st warm up match with 51 runs while Soumya Sarker who is suffering with run drought for the last couples of months shown a bit with 33 runs, both were retired out.

England XI openers Ben Duckett and Haseeb Hameed made Test cases in the 2nd warm-up match scoring 60 and 57 runs respectively before their retired out on the way to 1st innings team total of 256/10 in 78.2 overs. Duckett retired out for 59 runs in the 1st warm-up match.
