Tamim hammers 8th century against England
Dhaka: Bangladesh's dashing opener Tamim Iqbal hammered his 8th Test century during the 2nd session of the 1st innings on day-1 of the 2nd Test against England at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur started on Friday morning.
Tamim completed his century mission hammering two successive boundaries off Mooen Ali's bowling to reach at 101 from 93. He faced 139 balls to fire 12 boundaries on the way to the century when the team total at 167/1 in 39.4 overs.
Soon after his century, Tamim was unfortunately trapped by lbw off Moeen Ali's bowling and left the ground with team collection of 171/2 in 41.1 overs.
Tamim scored 104 off 147-balls, and stayed with Mominul Haque in the 2nd wicket to build a partnership figure of 170 in 38.5 overs.
Mominul was batting on 60 off 97-ball with nine boundaries when Mahmudullah came at crease to pair him.
Making his Test debut against New Zealand in January in 2008, Tamim played 44th matches and scored 3309 runs, on an average 40.35 runs.
