Four Bangladesh batsmen improve in Test rankings

Dhaka: Four Bangladeshi batsmen Tamim Iqbal, Mominul Haque, Shakib Al Hasan and Imrul Kayes improved their positions in the list of ICC Test Players Rankings after a 1-1 series draw against England that ended in Mirpur on Sunday. 

Tigers’ opener Tamim jumped up into 20th from 24th while Mominul and Shakib lifted one place each to move 26th and 27th places. Kayes earned two spots to secure 53rd slot. 

Australian all-rounder Steve Smith maintained the top position with 906 points at average 58.55, followed by Pakistani batsman Younus Khan having 860 points at average 54.30. 

To moved up in the ranking list, Tamim earned 668 points at average 40.34 while Mominul 625 points at average 51.66, Shakib 603 points at average 39.05 and Kayes 478 at average 28.46. 

Tamim turned in this position after scoring 104 and 40 runs in the 1st and 2nd innings respectively in Mirpur Test where Mominul played for 66 and one, Shakib stayed for 10 and 41 and Kayes scored one and a big figure of 78 for the Tigers 108 runs maiden Test victory against England.

Bangladesh conceded a narrow 22-run defeat in a thrilling climax from winning position in the 1st Test in Chittagong.
