Abul Khayer Steel names BPL T20 title sponsor
Dhaka: Abul Khair Steel (AKS) won the title sponsorship of the 4th Bangladesh Premier Cricket League T20 starting at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Friday.
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) director and Secretary of the BPL Governing Council Ismail Haider Mallick disclosed this at a press conference in Mirpur on Thursday.
BCB CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury and Abul Khayer Group Brand Marketing Director Naushad Karim Chowdhury also present in the occasion.
Mallick informed that the BCB, team franchises, Dhaka Metropolitan Police and Chittagong Metropolitan Police teams will jointly work as per the government suggestions to ensure the security of the 76 foreign players who are taking part in the event. They also provide security to foreign trainer and coaches.
Referring ICC’s consideration, Mallick claimed that BPL is the 2nd most popular T20 tournament in the world after IPL and this time cricket fans will be able to enjoy BPL matches in 122 countries across the world.
However, defending champion Comilla Victorians will take on Rajshahi Kings in the BPL opening match beginning at 2:30pm on Friday while Rangpur Riders face Khulna Titans in another opening day match scheduled to begin at 7:15 pm.
The other participating teams in this edition are Dhaka Dynamites, Chittagong Vikings and Barisal Bulls.
Two matches will be played in a match day while a total of 46 matches will be held at two venues, of them 36 matches will be held at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium and the rest 10 matches at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chittagong.
