Dhaka: Barisal Bulls tasted their first victory in the 4th Bangladesh Premier League beating defending champions Comilla Victorians by six wickets in their 2nd match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur on Friday.

Bulls chased down a moderate target of 130 for 4 in 18.3 overs, spurred by the 4th pair contribution of 49 runs in 4.5 overs between skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and Thisara Perera. Perera who scored 34 not out off 20 balls, including three boundaries and one six, finished off with a boundary off Mohammad Sharif. Later, he was adjudged man of the match.

The 4th pair started from 69/3 in 12.4 overs and ended up at 118/4 in 17.3 overs as Mushfiqur was caught by Liton Kumar Das off Sohail Tanvir bowling after adding 33 runs facing 23 balls, including two fours and two sixes.

Dawid Malan (26 off 23 balls; 3x4), opening batsman Shamsur Rahman (16) and Dilshan Munaweera (15) were the other double figure scorers for Bulls.

Imad Wasim made the first breakthrough in the Bulls batting line dismissing Munaweera who was caught by Marlon Samuels at 19/1 in 4.3 overs.

Wasim conceded 38 runs for one wicket in four overs while Nabil Samad, Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Sharif took one wicket each for 12, 17 and 30 runs respectively in 3, 4 and 2.3 overs.

Earlier, Jamaican top order batsman Marlon Samuels's run-a-ball 48 helped defending champions Comilla Victorians score 129 for 8 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs that witnessed nine boundaries and three sixes.

Sohail Tanvir fired all three sixes on the way to unbeaten 30 off 19 balls while Nazmul Hossain Shanto (16 off 14 balls; 2x4) and Khalid Latif (12 off 14; 2x4) were the other double figure scorers for the Victorians which batted first after winning the toss.

Number-four batsman Samuels hammered five boundaries before he was caught by Rayad Emrit off Al-Amin Hossain bowling at 111/7 in 18.2 overs.

Opener Imrul Kayes faced two balls and was bowled out for duck by spinner Taijul Islam who made the first breakthrough in the Victorians batting castle in the very second delivery of the innings.

Pace bowler Abu Haidr Rony captured two wickets -- Khalid Latif and skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza -- for 34 runs in four overs.

Conceding 20 runs each, Thisara Perera and Rayad Emrit took one wicket apiece while Al-Amin and Taijul also took one wicket each for 24 and 25 runs respectively all bowling four overs each.

This is the 2nd successive defeat of Mashrafe Bin Mortaza-led Comilla Victorians in the seven-team franchised tournament, following a 29-run loss against Chittagong Vikings in the tournament opener.

On Saturday's two matches at the same venue, Chittagong Vikings will face Khulna Titans at 2 pm while Rangpur Riders will play against Dhaka Dynamites starting at 7 pm.
